Baahubali— Just Best VFX Inside??
on Mar 29, 2016

In the wake of "Baahubali" grabbing national awards, there is a discussion happening in the social circles. Why the film just grabbed 'Best Film' award, but not any 'Best Actor', 'Best Director' or any other award? Other than Best Film, it is honoured with Best Visual Effects award. What's the obvious reason?
For a film to be called as a Best Film, at least there should be couple of good other performances. But in the case of actors excelling and other departments shining, seems like Baahubali hasn't crossed past the likes of Piku and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Lead actors like Prabhas and supporting cast like Ramya Krishna and Satyaraj aren't a class apart from what Tanvi Azmi has done in Bajirao Mastani or Samuthhirakani in Visarnai (they both won Best Supporting Actor/Actress), if we have to read the national award winners.
Sheer brilliance in terms of scale, war scenes and the larger-than-life portrayal of Mahismathi kingdom has perhaps helped the film grab a National Award. For the same reason, veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao said, "I'm happy for Baahubali getting Best Film trophy, but unhappy that none others from the film got an award including Best Director trophy for Rajamouli".
