Films Which Have Scope To Win Awards

2016 is perceptibly a good year for Telugu film industry. While few stars tasted bitter results, many young heroes scored smashing hits. Good thing is filmmakers experimented with different subjects and audiences encouraged them by making the films super hits. Here are the films which have scope to win awards.

 

1. Nannaku Prematho:

This is a game changer for Young Tiger Jr NTR, not because it was a commercial success. While NTR proved with the film that he can pull off class subjects too, audience also lauded his makeover. Credit should be given for director Sukumar for making such clean entertainer with a mass star like NTR. Father-son emotion was key factor in the film.


2. Kshanam:

Telugu filmmakers won’t show much interest on thrillers. They had a feeling that, audience may not have a high regard for suspenseful stories. Kshanam proved all of them wrong. The film starred Adivi Sesh and diercted by Ravikanth went on to become a big hit and brought hopes for upcoming filmmakers who are keen on making such subjects.


3. Oopiri:

Though this film was remake of a French hit ‘The Untouchables’, director Vamsi Paidipally made the film appeared to be an original with his making. Nagarjuna and Karthi supported him completely with their performance. Nag gave spell bounding performance as a bound to a wheel chair. Gopi Sunder’s music was other big advantage.


4. A Aa:

Known for making pure family entertainers, Trivikram Srinivas made yet another feel good entertainer- A Aa. Nithin was not a big star and producers spent good budget hoping on Trivikram. The film proved that, content is king, as it minted around Rs 40 cr share. Trivikram’s witty writing, lead actors performance, enchanting music, brilliant cinematography were highlights of the film.


5. Gentleman:

It was a big experiment from director Indraganti Mohanakrishna. Natural star Nani was care of address for romantic entertainers, but the director made a thriller with him. What’s more, the film was praised by audiences and critics alike. Gentleman was a commercial success. Nani sent a message through the film that, he is capable of doing all kinds of films.


6. Pelli Choopulu:

Promotions play key role in making an average grosser a hit and hit film a blockbuster. Innovative promotions by the film unit gave positive result for Pelli Choopulu which was made on a shoe-string budget of Rs 75 lakhs. Director Tharun Bhaskar was known for his award-winning short films and he proved his credibility with Pelli Choopulu which minted Rs 15 crores shares approximately from theatres. Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma gave wonderful performance.


7. Manamantha:

Director Chandrasekhar Yeleti is specialist in making films with unique concepts. The idea of showing four characters as individuals and uniting them as family members in the end was admirable. Mohanlal and Gauthami grabbed attention with their splendid show. Emotions, drama and light humour here and there were best parts. However, Manamantha botched at box office.


8. Janatha Garage:

Koratala Siva is one director who is making only blockbusters. Janatha Garage came after Srimanthudu and expectations were quite high on the Jr NTR starred film. Though the film got mixed reviews, it went on to become a biggest hit in NTR’s career. Mohanlal and NTR were the major assets of the film. DSP’s music was an add-on. Though few portions were unpersuasive, it was a good movie overall.


9. Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada:

Hero Nikhil and director VI Anand were going through lean phase with flops with their respective last films. Interestingly, they picked a supernatural thriller subject. Thrilling and entertaining stuff bewildered one and all. Made on a budget of Rs 7 crores, EPC raked Rs 38 crores gross for 30 days. This film has scope to win awards.
