Khaleja collections spark re-release fan wars

on May 31, 2025

Khaleja starring Superstar Mahesh Babu, Anushka Shetty and directed by Trivikram Srinivas, re-released on 30th May. The movie re-release has been scheduled to honor legendary actor Krishna's birth anniversary. The movie flopped in the original release but it took a huge start in its re-release after 15 years.

The movie makers have released an official poster stating that it collected Rs.8.26 crores gross on the opening day. The makers have also claimed it to be the all-time record for any Telugu re-release films. But several other hero fans have claimed it to be fake and state that it did not cross Pawan Kalyan's Gabbar Singh Day 1 record.

Khaleja is said to have collected only Rs.6.5 crores gross while Gabbar Singh collected Rs.6.75 crores - 8.0 crores gross in their respective re-releases. While Gabbar Singh was a blockbuster, Khaleja recorded to be a disaster in original releases. So, it collecting so big can be termed huge but even for re-release collections fan wars being triggered seems to be too low.

A re-release of a film had been a common practice for big star films from 1960's and in recent times, the trend caught up again rather than being Mahasivaratri specials. It would be ideal to let people or fans enjoy the shows without trying to again bring in collection fan wars.
