Demonetisation has affected this film badly

on Nov 18, 2016

The producer and lead hero of Rock On 2, Farhan Akhtar, though he appreciated the demonetisation move by Modi, he had openly requested multiplex owners to omit the convenience fee charged on internet transactions to smoothen the process for his audiences. "Well done to think tank that has done this. Of course the flip side of it, there are certain inconveniences in the daily life till things normalise. One of them happens to be that our film is releasing this Friday and more often than not people who go into watch a filmin a theatre on a weekend, a huge percentage tend to buy tickets by using cash. So that option has been reduced tremendously. The flexibility or liquidity of that person has been reduced" said Farhan a day before the release of his film.

Talking about how the demonetisation is affecting business of the film negatively, Arjun Rampal another star of Rock On 2 says, “We were suddenly staring at an audience with zero purchasing power. I have to admit we panicked. We had two choices. We could postpone our release or go ahead as planned. We did try to push it ahead. But it was not possible. We had to release, and the film took the brunt of the demonetisation. But no regrets.” he also added “No Prime Minister in the post-Nehruvian era has shown such dynamism. Mr Modi’s demonetisation scheme will change the course of our economic growth. If things go as per plan, our economy will be free of financial ills that have been plaguing us for decades. Who knows,we may soon be looking at a zero-taxation economy.”
