Celebrities look for best options to evade tax. As said by director Teja few months ago, few stars do charity works only to get tax exemption from government. It's not just charity works, celebs are cheating government by evading tax by cashing in on many loopholes in the system. ‘Export of Services’ is the new tactic for stars shooting in foreign to avoid paying tax to government.
Coming to the actual point, The Central Revenue department is gearing up to serve show cause notice to Young Tiger Jr NTR on evading tax to the tune of Rs 1.10 crore. CAG submitted a report to the Finance Minister in Parliament on Friday, which highlighted the practices adopted by actors and filmmakers to evade service tax obligations.
NTR was paid a remuneration of Rs 7.33 crore by a London-based company in 2015 for his film ‘Nannaku Prematho’. The actor has been found to have evaded service tax of Rs 1.10 crore on his remuneration citing that his film was shot extensively in London and other foreign countries. So, his service must be treated as ‘Service export’ with no tax liability.
Acting on the report, the Central Revenue department authorities plan to serve show cause notice to NTR in this regard.
