Tax on Movie Prints not Justified: Suresh Babu

on Jan 27, 2011

Telugu cinema producer and Suresh Productions chief Daggubati Suresh Babu is furious about the new tax slapped on the movie prints.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh is about to roll out a new rule that says there would be a tax of rupees 10,000 levied on every print cost. And this cost is to be borne by the producer.

Fuming over this new tax law, Producer Suresh Babu said, “Contemporary scenarios are scaring us to make a movie. As if that’s not enough, the budgets of the movies are very high. Considering the movie success rate and highly volatile market, how can the producer bear this brunt?”

“The next best thing to do is shut down our production banners”, lamented Suresh Babu.
