Retro trailer gives mixed vibes to Suriya Fans

Retro trailer released on 18th April at a big arena in Chennai in the presence of huge number of fans. The movie has huge anticipation and everyone have been looking forward to watch a Suriya's movie with Karthik Subbaraj. The movie trailer did not reach the expectations of several fans.
The mixed reports are majorly due to the trailer cut that doesn't give a serious vibe. From the beginning, director has been hyping up Suriya's character as The One and been talking about how it is a love story. So, the trailer needed to be in Karthik's style at the same time give out that fun gangster vibe.
Alphonse Puthiren, the director of films like Premam, who is also an editor, edited the trailer and it looked different but did not look like a professional work. The repetition of several images, dialogues made it look like an almost parody edit rather than a serious one.
Karthik is happy with the edit and movie could be his style of romantic comedy but this edit could have pushed to be a mix of things rather than being so amateurish at places. The connect that Suriya fans wanted with the film did not happen as much as they anticipated. Pooja Hegde is playing leading lady role with Shriya in a special song. Retro is releasing on 1st May.
