Akkineni heros have an edge on Romantic films & have given huge successes to all the 3 generations starting from ANR to Naga Chaitanya. But Akhil opted for commercial movie at the beginning & later concentrated on high voltage action in his second movie. For the movie Mr. Majnu, he has chosen romance. We all remember ANR’s “Laila Majnu” & Nagarjuna’s “Majnu” which gave them a huge success. Will this sentiment work out for Akhil? Will Mr. Majnu give Akhil his much expected hit? Let us read the review.

Story:

Vikram Krishna alias Vicky (Akhil Akkineni) is a playboy. He sees Nikita alias Nikki (Nidhhi Agerwal) while he returns from London after a wedding. Nikki already knows about Vicky very well & thus will be away from him. Initially, Nicky, who dislikes Vicky, loves him slowly. Expresses her love for him.

Vicky reveals to her that his relationship does not last for more than a month & hence her love is not meant for him. Nikki tries to convince Vicky to stay in relationship with her for two months & Vicky agrees for it. What happens after that? Why does Nikki break up with Vicky? Does Vicky gain back Nikki;s confidence? Forms the movie story.

Analysis:

The boy who does not have any relationship with any girl beyond the month, will he change his attitude after being in a relationship with her for 2 months? There is no strong reason of emotion for the girl to believe in this. Thus, the movie does not have a strong second half. But after the girls breaks up with him, he understands her love. This concept is also not very clear & convincing. There is no scene where the audience will connect emotionally to the story.

The way the story is narrated in the first half is very good. The image of Akkineni heros can also be felt in this movies. The split of the story from London to India & the family values which are portrayed very nice. But the love story that binds the movie is not very good. The reason for the couple to break up is not very strong. Akhil’s try to gain her back is also not very effective.

Director Venky Atluri has written some part of the story very well along with the dialogues. But has failed to carry the same tempo throughout the movie. Two songs composed by Thaman are good. Background music is okay. Cinematography & Production Values are good.

Plus Points:

First half

Akhil’s acting as a playboy

Cinematography, Production Values

Minus Points:

Second Half

There is no strength in the story

Emotional Scenes

Performances:

Akhil’s performance is both a strength & a weakness too for the movie. Nidhhi Agerwal looks beautiful but has failed in delivering the dialogues with proper lip sing. Hyper Adi was not utilized very well. Priyadarshini managed well in the given character. Others have done their bit but did not have a good scope for acting.

Finally:

This is a simple love story & Venky Attroli tried to show it beautifully. Few scenes respecting the family values are portrayed well. Akhil as a play boy as impressed the audience. But while delivering emotional scenes he needs to improve a lot. If we go for the movie without any expectations, we can enjoy the movie for a while.

Rating: 2.5/5
