Why did Anasuya file a case against Cyber Bullying?
on Jan 14, 2026

Popular actress and TV presenter Anasuya Bharadwaj has decided to put an end to the relentless online toxicity she has been facing. Known for her bold and outspoken nature, Anasuya has officially lodged a police complaint with the Cyberabad Cyber Crimes wing against several social media handles and individuals for sustained abuse, harassment, and defamation.
The issue reportedly escalated following recent public debates where Anasuya expressed her views on individual freedom and women's clothing. This triggered a wave of "rage-baiting" and trolling, which soon turned into something far more sinister. According to her complaint, the harassment crossed all limits, involving the circulation of AI-generated deepfakes, morphed images, and even direct threats to her family’s safety.
In her detailed complaint, Anasuya named dozens of YouTube channels, Instagram handles, and X (formerly Twitter) accounts for spreading "misogynistic and sarcastic rhetoric." She stated that she initially hoped the negativity would die down, but instead, it intensified through aggressive television debates and live streams. "I will always stand tall... unbothered and strong," she shared, emphasizing that her legal action is about representing many unheard voices facing similar cyberbullying.
The Cyberabad Police have booked a case against 73 individuals and platforms under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the IT Act. They are currently examining the digital evidence provided by the actress to trace the operators behind these accounts. This move by Anasuya has received strong support from women's rights organizations, who are calling for more accountability from digital platforms.
