Lokesh Kanagaraj could be looking at an interesting change in his LCU plans after AA23. While Kaithi 2 has long been expected to be his next film in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, there is now a possibility that the filmmaker could make Rolex with Suriya before returning to Karthi’s Dilli.

The LCU began with Kaithi in 2019 and expanded massively with Vikram in 2022. Suriya’s brief appearance as Rolex in Vikram became one of the biggest talking points of the film, creating demand for a full-fledged story around the character. Leo subsequently expanded the universe further, connecting Vijay’s world with the larger LCU mythology.

Lokesh has multiple LCU commitments, including Kaithi 2, Vikram 2 and Rolex. Although Kaithi 2 was previously indicated as his next project after AA23, the order could change depending on actor dates and the filmmaker’s plans.

Interestingly, Lokesh is not expected to continue acting after AA23, meaning his focus could return entirely to direction. If Rolex moves ahead, another major question is whether it will become Suriya50. Reports have linked the two, but there is no official confirmation yet.

If Rolex does come before Kaithi 2, it could give the LCU a major shift, taking the franchise deeper into the criminal empire introduced through Suriya’s character.
