Kartik Aaryan is expanding his role in the film industry beyond acting. The actor has launched his own production banner, Dopamine Studios, and is making his debut as a producer with his next collaboration with director Kabir Khan.
The yet-to-be-titled film marks Kartik and Kabir’s second collaboration after Chandu Champion. Their new project is an inspirational sports drama based on the journey of Kashmiri kickboxing champion Tajamul Islam. Kartik plays the role of a kickboxing coach who helps shape the journey of a young girl from Kashmir.
Kartik has also undergone kickboxing training for the role, with the film currently being shot across Mumbai and Kashmir. The actor’s decision to turn producer with this particular project reportedly came from his connection with the story and his desire to be involved with it beyond just his performance.
The timing is interesting for Kartik, who has recently received the Best Actor honour at the 72nd National Film Awards for Chandu Champion. His reunion with Kabir Khan now brings another sports-based story, but this time he is taking on an additional responsibility behind the camera as well.
For Kartik, Dopamine Studios marks a new phase in his career. After establishing himself as a leading actor, he is now looking to have a greater creative stake in the films he chooses. With his first production being a story he is already closely associated with as the lead actor, the Kabir Khan project becomes an important starting point for his production journey.
