Requesting audiences to watch our Darling: Priyadarshi
Updated : Jul 16, 2024
"Darling" is a unique romantic comedy entertainer starring Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh in lead roles, directed by Ashwin Ram and produced by Primeshow Entertainment's K Niranjan Reddy and Smt Chaitanya. The film has been generating significant buzz with its entertaining promotional content and is set for a worldwide release on July 19. Priyadarshi recently shared insights about the film during a press conference:
Starting out as a comedian and transitioning to more serious roles, how does it feel to portray a lover boy in "Darling"?
"I feel very happy. I believe good times have arrived for content-driven films. Audiences appreciate new stories and innovative ideas. The success of films like 'Mallesham,' 'Balagam,' and 'Save the Tigers' proves that there's always room for family dramas, which are timeless in Indian society. As an actor, there's much to learn from portraying relatable stories."
"Darling" appears to have a serious undertone on paper. Was it challenging to balance its humor and entertainment value?
"Generally, marriages are portrayed in a stereotypical manner. In 'Darling,' the female character has a unique split personality condition. The portrayal of Dinni is quite diverse, where both personas face serious issues while eliciting laughter from the audience. This is the magic of dark comedy, and we've executed it brilliantly in 'Darling.'"
Do you have a team to curate content?
"No, I make my own script choices after thorough reading and sometimes consult with Rahul, Vishnu, and my mentor Sitaram. Sitaram acted as a creative producer for 'Darling.'"
How was your experience working with Nabha Natesh?
"I've never worked with an actor like Nabha, and vice versa. Many have praised our fresh pairing. We underwent a 15-day workshop with acting trainer Anand Sami, akin to attending school daily. Our characters in the film are distinctly different."
How was it working with Primeshow Entertainment?
"The promotional work for 'Hanuman' was in full swing when we began 'Darling.' However, Niranjan and Chaitanya, the producers, fully supported us. They allowed us creative freedom without compromise."
Your thoughts on director Ashwin Ram?
"I met Ashwin during the shooting of 'Sandeep Kishan's A One Express,' and I was impressed with his storytelling. He possesses excellent leadership, communication skills, and a clear vision. I foresee him becoming a prominent director."
Did you feel pressure with the title 'Darling'?
"There was pressure, but we had faith in the script. 'Darling' is the perfect title for this movie, chosen with great affection."
Nani is known for choosing diverse scripts. How much has he influenced your choices?
"Nani's approach to telling different stories across genres is quite inspiring. After making a mass masala film like 'Dasara,' it's refreshing to work on a film like 'Hi Nanna.'"
Thoughts on Vivek Sagar's music?
"Vivek Sagar and I are childhood friends, and 'Darling' marks his 25th film. His music has evolved beautifully, and it's a delight to witness his growth."
Will you be dancing in 'Darling'?
"I'm not sure yet! (Laughs) Credit for any dancing in 'Darling' goes to Vivek Sagar, master choreographer Vijay Polaki, and set designer Gandhi."
What elements in 'Darling' will attract audiences to theaters?
"Out of 100 films in a year, only a few are remembered for making audiences laugh in theaters. 'Darling' is one such film. It promises ample comedy and great music, ensuring a delightful experience for viewers. I encourage everyone to come to the theaters and enjoy Dinni's journey in 'Darling.'"
What can you share about your upcoming projects?
"On August 15, '35 is Not a Short Story' will be released. I am also working on a film with Indraganti Mohan Krishna and another project with Roshan under Vyjayanthi Movies. 'Save Tigers Season 3' is also in the pipeline."
