Thalapathy Vijay has decided to take his last bow from films as an actor and continue as a politician with TVK. He is hoping to make a difference in two-party strong system of Tamil Nadu politics and follow his on-screen legendary guru, Vijayakanth's footsteps. But then, his fans are disappointed with his final film, Jana Nayagan.
The more trailer dropped on Saturday and it proved to be Nandamuri Balakrishna and Anil Ravipudi's Bhagavanth Kesari remake. While the director named the character as Nelakonda Bhagavanth Kesari, to get NBK, the makers in Tamil, named Vijay's character as Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, to get TVK.
There are additional scenes involving Prakash Raj as a corrupt politician against TVK and his antics. This is a Ghilli call-back but rest of the film, expecially, scenes with Mamitha Baiju are same as NBK and Sreeleela scenes. The movie looks to be similar in every aspect, even the trailer cut.
Well, this made Vijay fans wonder if their idol could have done LEO 2 as his final film or if that is impossible, a remake of Mahesh Babu's Bharat Ane Nenu, where the leading man plays a CM. They feel it would have alinged properly with his off-screen ambitions and also with his Sarkar film, too.
Recently, makers have held a big event in Malaysia, as Thalapathy Thiruvizha, where many popular songs of Vijay have been performed. But Jana Nayagan songs did not really generate similar interest or hype. After trailer release, OTT platforms have been cleverly using Bhgavanth Kesari scenes to promote the film, further.
This would definitely take away from the novelty of the film, even if it is, simply publicised as Vijay's film. As Ghilli, did help Vijay to take off in his career as a star hero, which is a Mahesh Babu film, even BAN could have done it for him? Only, 2026 elections can talk about it as Jana Nayagan will definitely take grand openings and have some measurable run at Box Office, despite the quality, because of it being Vijay's final film before elections.
