Two directors Two different versions of HHVM?

on Jul 22, 2025

Pawan Kalyan greenlit Krish Jagarlamudi's high conceptual historical "Hari Hara Veera Mallu," an epic, big-budget period drama produced by AM Rathnam. This film not only unites Krish and Pawan Kalyan for the first time but also marks the actor's inaugural foray into historical fiction.

Due to personal and professional differences, Krish walked out of the project and Jyoti Krisna took over. But this change has resulted in the movie having two different versions at script level and conceptual execution. It is stated that they both wanted to take movie in different directions.

While Pawan Kalyan liked the concept of Krish, he did wanted changes in few sequences and Jyothi Krishna made them. We can see such changes in their contrasting statements, too. The actor wanted to take it in a direction where hero represents the Sanatana Dharma but Krish wanted him to be an outlaw, a thief.

Jyothi Krishna equated Pawan Kalyan's character with Chhatrapathi Shivaji while Krish wanted him to be a revolt against Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb and Nizams, as per initial reports. We cannot be sure about how much Jyothi Krishna changed the script but his inclusion has helped in breaking the film into two parts.

Krish wanted the high concept film as one part with huge action episodes sprinkled all over. But Pawan Kalyan did not believe it as an one part film and discussed about breaking it into two parts. While they both did not lose respect for each other, this difference of opinion in creativity, and political commitments of PK resulted in the change of director.

Well, Jyothi Krishna decided to bring Hari Hara Veera Mallu Part-1: Sword vs Spirit on 24th July, 2025. MM Keeravaani composed music for the film and Nidhhi Agerwal and Bobby Deol are playing other leading roles. Let's see how the change in direction will change the execution of the concpet on big screens.
