Ravi Teja is stepping into a different space with Irumudi, an intense rural family drama directed by Shiva Nirvana. After exploring mass-action entertainers in recent years, the actor is attempting a more emotionally driven character in the Mythri Movie Makers production, and the director believes Ravi Teja is perfectly suited for the role.
Shiva Nirvana revealed that the story revolves around an alcoholic father who is forced to confront himself for the sake of his daughter. His fascination with Ayyappa Deeksha from childhood became the starting point for the story. “I always pick a beautiful scene from my memory and write a story. I was fascinated by Ayyappa Deeksha from my childhood, and that led me to this character of an alcoholic father’s journey to discover himself for his daughter,” he explained.
According to the director, Irumudi is not a spiritual film despite Ayyappa Deeksha being an important element in the story. Instead, it explores family relationships through a raw and rustic setting. Shiva Nirvana feels Ravi Teja’s inherent masculinity, particularly the quality associated with middle-class and lower-middle-class rural families, makes him ideal for the character. He also praised the actor’s performance, calling it phenomenal and emotionally intense.
Music composer GV Prakash Kumar has also promised a rustic and distinctive score that complements the film’s core emotion. With Baby Nakshatra and Priya Bhavani Shankar in prominent roles, Irumudi has already generated interest through its teaser and songs. The trailer will be unveiled on August 12, ahead of the film’s theatrical release on August 21.
