Sundar C has become a huge blockbuster director in Tamil Cinema with comedy being his major go-to element. He delivered cult comedy films like Ullathai Allitha, Mettukudi, Arunachalam, Winner, Kalakalappu, and Madha Gaja Raja. He kept himself relevant with Aranmanai Series, even though he started 3 decades ago. He even shocked everyone with Madha Gaja Raja becoming a blockbuster even releasing after 12 years. Now, he joined hands with Vadivelu again after a long time for his Gangers movie. The movie released on 24th April 2025 and let's discuss about the film, in detail.

Plot:

A school girl goes missing and her school teacher Sujitha (Catherine) complaints to local police. As many girls have gone missing, the police appoint an undercover cop. Saravanan (Sundar C) joins as a PT teacher and Singaram (Vadivelu) another master starts to compete with Saravanan, mainly for the affection of Sujitha. While the investigation is going on, Saravanan also collects data about missing black money of Rs.100 crores. Finally, he plans an heist with some other losers like Singaram. Why he is conducting this heist? Will he be successful? What is his major motive behind all this? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:

Sundar C throws everything at the wall in this film to see what exactly sticks. He tries to use Vadivelu in almost every scene and he tries to write scenes that the legend pulled off in his prime. And this seems to be the positive and overwhelming negative of the film, too. Vadivelu is still trying to find his true self in comic timing at this moment, as he had a long break between films. He is not close to his prime, where even his simple reaction could turn a shot hilarious.

He is able to make the heist episodes more enjoyable as they offered more for him to play but in the first hour, he cracks few good one-liners but still not at his best. While Vadivelu is good in second half providing us with some entertainment, Sundar C, seem to have sticked to Aranmanai range of writing in this film. People who expect Kalakalappu kind of through and thorough comedy, Sundar C, is not in the same level of form.

The writing finds its pace only when the heist part starts and marginally becomes better with even the jokes and one-liners. We do not get any low brawling attempts like in the first hour. It works to a level where we get a decent comedy that doesn't hurt our senses or stretch too much. Vadivelu is the key in these portions and there are some inventive ways, Sundar C, used him as well. Still, the comedy doesn't really make us laugh out loud at consistent levels.

On the whole, Sundar C is able to deliver another timepass entertainer that doesn't really become a must watch but has decent enough elements that doesn't hurt us through the run-time. Still, we cannot call it a comeback of Sundar C and Vadivelu combination. Santhanam did deliver a great comedy stretch in Madha Gaja Raja but here Vadivelu is not effective yet he is good.

Bottomline:

Film doesn't live up to expectations but doesn't hurt our senses too.

Rating: 2.25/5
