on Jun 23, 2025

Vijay Deverakonda is one of the young stars of Telugu Cinema. He took big risks with Dear Comrade, Liger and The Family Star but all ended up proving to be disappointments in his career. Now, few reports suggest that before going to Dhanush, Sekhar Kammula approached VD for Kuberaa.

According to the reports, Vijay Deverakonda wanted to collaborate with Sekhar, as he got to be in Life is Beautiful directed him, in the initial stages of his career, in a small role. But when Sekhar asked him for Deva role, a beggar, he hesitated to accept, say reports.

They further state that the Rowdy actor did not want to appear as a beggar on screen post the failure of Liger, where he played the role of a Stammer and a completely poor person. He rejected stating that his fans won't agree if he appear in such a role, say the reports.

Nagarjuna also took several meetings to get convinced and confirm his presence as Deepak. After Vijay Deverakonda's rejection, Sekhar went to Dhanush and the project started on a big scale. Now, Kuberaa has collected a huge Rs.80 crores gross in the first weekend, marking it to be a costly miss for VD, if reports are to be believed.
