Bhavana Studios, the production house behind Premalu and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, has announced its next film, Picnic. Starring Sandeep Pradeep, Indrajith Sukumaran and Dileesh Pothan, the film is being planned as a family comedy drama and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 14, during the festive season.
Kiran Josey, who co-wrote the blockbusters Premalu and BKU, is making his directorial debut with Picnic. The film is envisioned as a wholesome entertainer for audiences across generations, with the makers planning a simultaneous release in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.

The project aims to build on the cross-border appeal enjoyed by Kiran Josey's previous writing ventures, particularly in the Telugu states. Showing Business, which distributed Premalu in Telugu and helped the film reach audiences in the region, has partnered with the makers to handle the Telugu theatrical release.
With a combination of familiar performers and a filmmaker making his directorial debut, Picnic marks Bhavana Studios' next theatrical venture following the success of its previous films. The production house is preparing to bring the family entertainer to audiences across South India.
