Vimal Krishna made a name for himself as a successful director with his debut film, DJ TIllu. After the blockbuster, he did not return to the franchise but took his time to make his next, Anumana Pakshi. With Rag Mayur in the leading role, the movie released today. Let's discuss about it in detail.
Plot:
Sunny (Rag Mayur) is a content-creator who runs an account, Anumana Pakshi and he gets trolled regularly for his overthinking and irrational fears. He has a close friend and an enemy, Varma (Prince Cecil). His doubt causes break-up of Varma with his love, Ramya. He keeps asking Pakshi to bring her back into his life. Meanwhile, a friend whose Spa business is spoilt by Sunny, asks him to come to Kashmir and save him, threatening he will commit suicide.
Sunny goes to Kashmir with Varma and there he meets Kanya (Merin Philip). She gives him a chocolate that makes him kiss her. Using this as an opportunity, she takes him to her father Bramhos (Brahmaji). Vizag Cop Vasu (Ajay), who runs a insta page Voice of Vizag, comes to Kashmir with his ghost hunter wife, Suji (Raasi). Suddenly, Sunny finds Varma dead in his bed. Who killed him? Who is Kanya? What is end of this mystery? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Rag Mayur tried hard to infuse some fun into the lazily written one-liners and situations. While his performance is good enough but the script is too bland. Prince had similar role like DJ Tillu and Merin Philip's role that emulates Radhika, did not create similar impact.
Nothing in the script really showcased any potential to tickle the funny bones. Ajay as Vasu, a vlogger Police Officer, and Raasi, as a ghosthunter, needed much more material than handed to them. They just looked clueless trying to put in as much as they can to make it all work. Ajay came across as hamming.
Every development, every situation and every one-liner all seem to have been written taking things for granted rather than really putting in an effort. DJ Tillu had a lot of similarities but Tillu character worked big time. Here, a man being so fearful being a content-creator made no sense.
While the makers seem to have thought has they are making sacrastic punches on growing social media content culture and aspiration to become influencers, the jokes just have been bland. The situations just grow so unfunny and random that one wonders if same director made DJ Tillu.
Overall, Anumana Pakshi is a forgettable film from Vimal Krishna and even Sri Charan Pakala music, BGM had no spark. Cinematography and editing are forgettably terrible too. The movie just fails in every aspect and feels like a dragged on short film.
