After Akshay Kumar Is Dhanush prioritising biopics?

on May 22, 2025

Akshay Kumar has set a precedent in Indian Cinema by taking up one biopic after another and it had been a successful formula for him till recent times. His biopics are not garnering same level of public attention and box office success. But Kesari Chapter 2 turned out to be a moderate success, this year.

He had decided to concentrate on comedies further for time being. Now, Dhanush seems to be interested in acting in biopics. He recently announced his Musical Maestro Ilaiyaraaja biopic and the movie had been put on a back burner due to production issues. But he also accepted a biopic about Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

The official announcement regarding the film has been done at Cannes Film Festival and the makers unveiled a poster with Dhanush as Kalam in a silhouette. Interestingly, the movie wil be directed by Om Raut and that too, after a colossal disaster like Adipurush. T-Series, Abhishek Agarwal and Anil Sunkara are producing this exciting film.

Abdul Kalam started off his journey from humble harbor of Rameswaram and grew to become Missile Man of India and then President. His tenure as President is regarded highly friendly and his popular interactions with children earned him great fame. He even got Bharat Ratna from Indian Government and let's hope the biopic will do justice to his legacy.
