Updated : Aug 25, 2025

Director Naga Ashwin became a highly respected and sought after creative professional, after Mahanati. He went on to deliver a Rs.1000 crores hit with Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas. Now, he is waiting for Prabhas to be free to complete Kalki 2. But the latest reports suggest that he got an opportunity to direct Rajinikanth.

The movie is said to be another futuristic high budget project that suits Rajinikanth's stardom. Vyjayanthi Movies are planning this huge Pan-India film and the script works are going on at the moment, say reports. While there is uncertainity about this project timeline, several reports suggest that due to Prabhas tight schedule, it could take off before Kalki 2.

On the other hand, several sources state that Nag Ashwin has already completed Kalki 2 script and he is only waiting for Prabhas dates. Once the actor is ready, the pre-production will be complete to take off the huge budget sci-fi, say reports. Currently, Nag Ashwin is busy with both projects script work say other reports.

Currently, Rajinikanth has to complete his Jailer 2 shoot and there are reports from Tamil Industry that he could star in a film with Kamal Haasan for RKFI, in Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction. There are many projects as well in discussion stage, say Tamil media reports. We have to wait for official announcements about his next projects.
