Mokshagna’s much-awaited film debut has once again become a talking point in Tollywood. For nearly five years, there has been one update or another about the Nandamuri heir’s entry, but none of the projects have eventually taken off. After his proposed collaboration with Prashanth Varma failed to move forward, a new name is now doing the rounds — Vassishta, the director of Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara.

According to the latest industry buzz, Mokshagna is said to be teaming up with Vassishta for his debut film. The project is reportedly being planned as the director’s next after Vishwambhara, with the shoot expected to begin after the Dussehra holidays. There is, however, no official confirmation from Mokshagna, Vassishta or the production house at this point.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Vassishta’s name has been linked to Mokshagna. Earlier this year, reports claimed that the Bimbisara director had narrated a story to the young actor. Some reports suggested that Mokshagna had not given his nod to that particular proposal, while other reports linked Vassishta with a possible film for Balakrishna instead.

That makes the latest buzz particularly interesting. If Vassishta has indeed returned to the picture with a new script, the filmmaker could be getting another opportunity to launch a Nandamuri heir. The director is currently associated with Vishwambhara, his first film with Megastar Chiranjeevi, and the project is currently slated for a Dussehra release window.

Mokshagna’s debut saga has already seen several names enter and exit the discussion, including Prashanth Varma, Krish and others. The Prashanth Varma collaboration was one of the most serious attempts, but the project eventually did not take off, with reports attributing the split to creative differences.

For now, the Vassishta-Mokshagna combination remains a rumour, but the reported post-Dussehra shooting plan gives the latest speculation a more concrete shape than the usual debut chatter. If the project is indeed locked, an official announcement could finally put an end to one of Tollywood’s longest-running debut mysteries.
