Kollywood star Karthi is navigating a challenging phase at the box office. His recent vigilante film Vaa Vaathiyaar ended up as a disaster, and the slice-of-life drama Meiyazhagan failed to make a strong commercial impact. While he has completed shooting for Sardar 2, its theatrical release is currently delayed. Rumours say it is linked with Suriya Karuppu release date and could come out in August. 

With his immediate hopes resting on the period drama Marshal and his much-talked-about lead role in HIT 4, rumors of a new project with Boyapati Srinu have left trade circles questioning if this is the right move. On paper, a high-voltage mass entertainer sounds like a safe bet to recover lost ground. 

However, Boyapati Srinu seems to have completely lost his form. While he has delivered massive hits with Nandamuri Balakrishna in the past, their recent collaboration Akhanda 2 was a colossal disaster. Furthermore, his track record with other heroes is highly inconsistent. 

Except for Bhadra and Sarrainodu, his other projects have failed commercially despite having popular action blocks. His film Skanda, which released before Akhanda 2, did not even manage to deliver those signature thrilling moments. At this crucial juncture, Karthi needs a reliable commercial hit. Trusting an out-of-form director whose template has grown highly predictable might be a massive risk and could end up being the wrong decision for his career.
