Director Venky Atluri and Dhanush appear to be gearing up for another collaboration after the successful film, Vaathi, Sir in Telugu. While an official announcement is still awaited, the project has already become the talk of the industry, thanks to an interesting piece of casting buzz.

If the latest reports are to be believed, Dhanush will be playing a police officer for the first time in his career. Despite building a reputation for taking on unconventional roles over the years, the actor has never headlined a film as a cop. That is reportedly set to change with Venky Atluri's upcoming directorial.

Sources suggest that Venky has penned a script that presents Dhanush in a completely fresh avatar, blending an emotionally driven narrative with commercial elements. After the success of Vaathi, the filmmaker is said to have once again approached Dhanush with a story that instantly caught the actor's attention.

Interestingly, Dhanush has portrayed gangsters, teachers, and several intense characters throughout his career, making the prospect of seeing him in khaki all the more exciting for fans. Currently, Venky Atluri is busy with final post production leg of Vishwanath and Sons starring Suriya, Mamitha Baiju releasing in August. Dhanush completed shooting for his big action flick, OM, in the direction of Rajkumar Periyasamy who made Amaran.
