Govinda warns 100 crore law suit against deep fakes

Aug 24, 2026 6:04PM

Govinda has issued a strong legal warning against reports and social media content concerning his personal life, particularly rumours surrounding his marriage and alleged divorce from Sunita Ahuja. The actor has reportedly threatened legal action seeking damages of up to ₹100 crore against those responsible for spreading false and defamatory information.

The warning comes amid reports about Govinda’s relationship with Sunita Ahuja, including speculation about their alleged divorce and claims that the actor secretly married actress Rani Swarnkar. Govinda’s legal notice reportedly describes such reports as false, malicious and damaging to his reputation.

Interestingly, the actor has also specifically flagged the growing use of AI-generated content and deepfakes. The notice reportedly warns against creating or circulating manipulated photographs, videos, audio recordings or other synthetic content using Govinda’s identity, voice or likeness without permission.

The legal warning is said to cover not just conventional media reports but also digital platforms, YouTube channels and social media accounts that knowingly circulate such material. Govinda’s legal team has reportedly indicated that both civil and criminal proceedings could be initiated.
