Aamir Khan has officially confirmed that a sequel to the 2009 hit film "3 Idiots" is currently in development. During a recent interview while promoting his upcoming production "Ek Din," the actor revealed that director Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi are actively working on the script for the new installment.
Khan shared that Hirani had previously been developing a biopic about Dadasaheb Phalke. However, after completing three drafts, the director was not entirely satisfied with the result, leading them to pause the project. The primary focus has now shifted entirely to the "3 Idiots" sequel.
The new film will follow the same well-known characters from the original movie, but the narrative will take place ten years later. Khan noted that the current script retains the unique humor of the first film while offering a fresh and unusual story.
He also expressed his eagerness to reprise his popular role as Phunsukh Wangdu. Although the writing process is still ongoing and a production timeline has not been announced, the confirmation of the sequel has already generated substantial interest among audiences who made the original film a landmark success.
