Lagadapati Rajagopal Okays Separate Telangana State

The Vijayawada MP, Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal, on Tuesday said that he would not mind accepting Telangana as a separate state only if it would be the last state to be carved out in the Indian Union.

T-issue to be Discussed in Parliament on 5 August

The Lok Sabha Speaker, Ms Meira Kumar, on Tuesday decided to allow discussion on a calling attention notice given by the Opposition leader, Ms Sushma Swaraj, on the Telangana issue on August 5. Political leaders of various Telangana outfits had met Ms Swaraj recently demanding that the BJP, which supports Telangana statehood, raise the issue in Parliament. Accordingly she gave the notice and it was conceded to by the Speaker.  

TRS Leader Etela Rajender Warns P Chidambaram

Speaking to media at Telangana Bhavan, TRS leader Etela Rajender strongly warned Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. On Monday, the Home Minister suggested AP chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to get passed a unanimous resolution once again in the AP Assembly for deletion of the 14(f) clause from Presidential Orders, 1975 which treats Hyderabad as a 'Free Zone' for police recruitment.  

Resigned T Cong Leaders Boycott Parliament

The 10 Telangana MPs who had submitted their resignations declared on Monday that that they would stay away from Parliament till the Telangana Bill was tabled even though the Union home minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, expressed optimism that the issue would be resolved soon as the Congress general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, was engaged in hectic consultations with all the stakeholders. However, the three MPs from the region who had not given in their papers, Mr Sarve Satyanarayana, Mr Anjan Kumar Yadav and the Union petroleum minister, Mr S. Jaipal Reddy, attended Parliament.

Yeddyurappa Tamed: Says Will Step Down

Though Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who was asked by his party to step down in the wake Lokayukta Hegde indicting him in the illegal mining report, initially put up a resistance through show of strength by his supporting MLAs. However, he met BJP observers Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley this morning and according to media reports, assured the senior leaders that he would step down on Sunday as promised.

Yeddyurappa Resignation: Ashadam Comes in Way

Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa was asked to resign by his party in the wake of the Lokayukta indictment in illegal mining scam. A reluctant Yeddyurappa said that he will step down as per the party diktat, but only on Sunday (31-07-11).

Finally Karnataka Cief Minister B S Yeddyurappa decided to step down and sent his resignation to BJP chief Mr. Nithin Gadkari. Yeddyurappa was under pressure of the party after he was implicated in the illegal mining report given by the Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde. Sources said that Yeddyurappa sent his resignation to the party president Nithin Gadkari alongwith denotification of the land from which his family made profit proving to be the last nail in the coffin.

T Cong Leaders to Meet Azad Again Today

The Telangana Congress group that is currently engaged in a formal dialogue with Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad in Delhi, is again going to meet him today (27-07-11). In yesterday's meeting Mr Azad reportedly enquired with the leaders whether they could show him any "firm" or positive statement either by the Congress or the government on Telangana. The T group leaders showed him the policy statement of the late CM YS Rajaselhar Reddy on February 12, 2009 made on the floor of the House declaring, "Government of AP in principle is not against the formation of T-state."  

Home Minister P Chidambaram Clarifies Telangana Tangle

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram while clarifying on the contentious Telangana tangle said that political parties in Andhra Pradesh must help the Centre find a solution to the Telangana issue. But they are divided and a solution cannot be thrust down their throats.
