Congress May Use Mamata Banerjee to Resolve T-tangle

It is not new for the Congress to manipulate things when it is required. Now it is not in a position to go back from the 9 December 2009 announcement in respect of Telangana and at the same time not also in a position to comply with it in a hurry. Going by the party's maneuvers since last week, it is very likely that it may opt to use partners of the UPA to stymie the prospects of a new state for the time being.

Telangana Employees to Continue Stir

Telangana Non-Gazetted Employees Union president Swamy Goud on Saturday announced that the agitation for Telangana statehood would continue until the Centre announces a roadmap for the formation of a separate state. Talking to media persons after holding a meeting with TNGO office-bearers of 10 districts, at TNGO Bhavan, Swamy Goud said that the employees would not agree for anything less than the grant of statehood for the Telangana region.

Telangana Tangle: AP Governor Meets PC, PM

Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and is understood to have briefed him about the situation in the agitation-hit region. Narasimhan, who arrived in Delhi last evening, met Singh at his official 7, Race Course Road residence during which the two are believed to have discussed the Telangana statehood demand issue at length.

As the Telangana general strike enters day 26 on Saturday today, hectic consultations are slated in delhi on the contentious separate Telangana issue. Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, his deputy Damodar Rajanarasimha and state Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana rushed to the national capital, while the Governor of AP ESL Narasimhan has already reached over there on Friday. CM Puts Crop Loss Responsibility on KCR, Kodandaram

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday said TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and Telangana JAC convenor M Kodandaram should take the responsibility for any crop loss due to power shortage in the state. Speaking at his camp office, the chief minister said that despite all efforts, the government could not ensure enough coal supplies to the thermal stations as Telangana agitators were not allowing Singareni workers to attend their duties.
