Despite protests Kantara Chapter 1 bookings undeterred

Kantara The Legend has become a huge Pan-India blockbuster and surprised everyone with its box office stamina in 2022. Rishab Shetty won National Award for his performance and he even wrote and directed the film. Now, he is back with the highly anticipated prequel, Kantara Chapter 1, after 3 years.

Hombale Films is producing the high budget film and Rukmini Vasanth is playing the leading lady role. The movie completed censor formalities with U/A certification and runtime is locked at 2 hours 48 minutes. The makers are confident that people will find the devotional tale highly engaging despite the longer runtime.

While the bookings are good for the film everywhere, protests asking for Boycott of the film are catching fire on social media. RIshab Shetty spoke in Kannada at Hyderabad pre-release event about NTR. While the actors are great friends and they enjoyed each other's company, people started protesting against Rishab.

As some activists Kannada did not allow for Pawan Kalyan cutouts during OG release in Karnataka, mainly, Pawan Kalyan fans are hurt and running the boycott trend. Some are questioning the legality and ethics behind giving the film price hikes. The actor, also Deputy Chief Minister, himself cleared that art is above all regionalities.

Well, the bookings for the movie are good despite such protests. Mainly, it is doing good in Karnataka but in North, the movie did not pierce into markets like Pushpa 1 or KGF Chapter 1. The bookings are underwhelming and the release day talk of the film will determine its return on investment levels.
