Beast Review: The meaner story and leaner performances

Nelson Dilipkumar wrote and directed the action picture Beast, which was produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures. The lead actors are Thalapathy Vijay and Pooja Hegde, with Selvaraghavan, Sathish, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Redin Kingsley, Aparna Das, and others playing important supporting roles. Anirudh Ravichander composed the soundtrack for the film, and Manoj Paramahamsa handled the cinematography.

Veeraraghavan is a RAW Agent on leave for personal reasons. When a mall in Chennai is hijacked, he is locked inside with other hostages. Terrorists seek the release of their leader from Tihar Jail in Delhi. The plot of Beast revolves around Veera's ability to save them from terrorists while simultaneously achieving his personal aim.

Coming to performances
Thalapathy Vijay steals the show with his vintage mannerisms and dialogues. Surprisingly, VTV Ganesh and Selva Raghvan generate some laughter. The rest of the ensemble, on the other hand, is only there to fill the extra sidekick roles. Even though Pooja Hegde had no role in the film, she looks stunning.

Coming to technicality
The music by Anirudh Ravichander is a total show stealer. The first half is just a little slow at times, but it speeds up in the second half, and Anirudh is at his best till the end. Manoj Paramahamsa's frames are visually stunning, and some shots are absolutely eye-catching. Arabic Kuthu, a chart-topping song, does not appear nice on screen. It was a huge letdown. Thalapathy Vijay's steps are clumsy and lack grace.

Overall:
Nelson Dilipkumar squanders a wonderful opportunity thanks to his lousy storytelling. Thalapathy Vijay is the film's one saving grace. Beast is not Vijay's best.
