Have You Witnessed The Floating Festival at

Tirumala?

Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara is immersed in the celebration of Tappotsavam or the floating festival. Have you ever been there at this time of the year? For those who have not, let me tell you that the Tappotsavam is a five day long festival, celebrating different forms of the Lord of seven hills. Annually, on Phalguna Pournami of the holy month of Chaitra [March], Swami Pushkarini attracts thousands of people from all over the country, to be part of this five day festival. The uniqueness of Tappotsavam lies in the worship of the Lord, in different forms each day.

On the first day Lord Rama is worshiped along with goddess Sita and Laxmana. Its a sight to see as the gods bless us floating in the Swami Pushkarini, dressed in the most beautiful attire. The next day, devotees must focus their attention in offering their services to Lord Krishna and goddess Rukmini. The god with a peacock feather, is sure to bless us if we offer whole hearted and sincere devotion to him. The last three days are dedicated to Sri Malayappa Swami along with Sridevi and Bhudevi who are also worshiped in a similar manner as the other gods and goddesses in the preceding days. Those who have had the good fortune of witnessing this festival should considered themselves very fortunate. Those who have not got this opportunity must remember that the opportunity awaits them next year and it is never too late to see God.
