Home  »  News  »  Will Adivi Sesh succeed where other Tier-2 stars failed?

Updated : Oct 28, 2025

Adivi Sesh has established himself as a successful star at the box office with his thrillers. He started an unprecendented success streak with Kshanam and continued it with Goodachari, Evaru, Major, HIT: The Second Case. After a four year gap, he is releasing his solo-starrer Dacoit on 19th March, for Ugadi festival.

The movie stars Mrunal Thakur in the leading lady role after Shruti Haasan exited the film. Sesh took time to perfect Uttarandhra slang for the film and the shoot is going on at a slow pace giving more importance to perfection. Well, big festival releases for Tier-2 stars did not yield great results.

Siddhu Jonnalagadda's Telusu Kada released for Diwali and failed to entertain audiences. Similarly, Kiran Abbavaram K-Ramp failed despite good inital push as a youthful entertainer. Vijay Deverakonda had bad results with NOTA and The Family Star being festival releases.

Nani's Dasara became a superhit but he prefers to release most of films away from big competition during festival period around Christmas. Now, Adivi Sesh has boldly looked at Christmas day or Ugadi Day release for Dacoit. Within a week two biggies - Ram Charan's Peddi and Nani's The Paradise are releasing on massive scale.

Hoping for at least two week free run, many of the young actors look to give such gap from big movies. Teja Sajja's Mirai, Bellamkonda Srinivas's Kishkindhapuri released two weeks before Pawan Kalyan's OG. Looking at all these factors, Dacoit seems to be taking a huge risk. Let's see how Adivi Sesh thriller fares for a festival release.
