Updated : Apr 18, 2026

The Telugu film industry is witnessing a surprising shift in its release strategy for the highly lucrative summer season. Traditionally, the summer holidays were strictly reserved for top-tier star vehicles and massive money-spinners. Peddi postponement has given Gayapadda Simham and Jet Lee space to release on 1st May but the calendar for peak summer month looks empty other than these!

Satya's upcoming action comedy Jet Lee, directed by Ritesh Rana, is gearing up for May 1st release. Joining the summer race is director Tharun Bhascker's comedy entertainer Gayapadda Simham. Backed by its respective producers, this film has officially locked its release date for May 1, too.

When you look at the May 2026 month, Akhil's Lenin or Nikhil Siddhartha's Swayambhu are not ready to join the race and take advantage of peak summer. Lenin already locked 26th June date and makers are looking at Peddi. On the other hand, last minute hurdles have halted Swayambhu from Summer release, say reports.

Trade circles and distributors are pointing out that wrapping up the peak summer season with mid-range comedy outings feels like a missed opportunity. Relying solely on these entertainers might result in wasting the most profitable box office period of the year.
