Sodari Sodarimanulara Review, Unengaging Crime Narrative
Updated : Sep 15, 2023
Actor Kamal Kamaraju impressed Telugu audience with versatile performances and the films usually make a distinct impression on the psyche of a movie buff. Now his latest release Sodara Sodarimanulara, directed by Raghupathi Reddy Gunda has raised the curiosity among audience because of his interesting look. Here's the film review by TeluguOne;
Story:
Raju (Kamal Kamaraju) is a cab driver trying to make a living. One day, he picks up a highly intoxicated woman from a remote pub but finds her dead during the ride. The police suspect Raju’s involvement and arrest him. Who is this woman? Did Raju have anything to do with her death? The movie uncovers these mysteries and Raju’s fate.
Positives:
1. Actor Kamal Kamaraju is on full display and he delivers a subtle and fitting performance in his role of a cab driver.
2. Villain Prabhakar impresses with commendable performance. He sells his role very well as greedy and fierce police officer.
3. The remaining cast, including Aparna Devi, Prithvi, Padma Rao, and Sunitha Manohar, performed very well.
Negatives:
1. The point is not novel but the directors approach is. While the director’s intentions are noteworthy, the execution falls short. The excitement got killed by dragged and unengaging screenplay.
2. Aparna Devi’s character could have been better developed to portray her struggle in fighting for her husband, and Prithiviraj’s portrayal as an MLA lacks impact.
3. Kalakeya Prabhakar’s role is alright, but it had lot of potential. His role could've made the film more interesting.
4. With lot of plot holes, lengthy duration it feel kind of draggy. The major drawbacks are fail of crisp editing and interesting score.
Technical Aspects:
Debutant director Raghupathi Reddy failed to engage audiences. The writing and directors falls shott and it's on full display. The thrilling moments could've been more crisp adding excitement to the narrative. There is a solid room for improvement in other technical categories like Music, editing, cinematography and production design. If these aspects were worked, then the film would be more compelling.
Verdict:
Finally, Sodara Sodarimanulara is an interesting idea but disappoints with its weak narrative and unengaging screenplay. The performances stand out, but that's it.
