RRR Naatu Naatu makes HistoRRRy at Oscars

Naatu Naatu," the song from the film "RRR," made history Sunday night with its win for best original song at the Oscars. Naatu Naatu" defeated contenders including "Lift Me Up" from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," "Hold My Hand" from "Top Gun: Maverick," "Applause" from "Tell It LIke A Woman," and "This is a Life" from "Everything Everywhere All at Once."
Composed by MM Keeravani, with lyrics by Chandrabose and vocals by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, the song became massively popular soon after its release in March 2022. Earlier this year, Naatu Naatu won in the same category at the Golden Globes. It also won Best Song at the Critics’ Choice Awards and the Hollywood Critics Association.
The song was also performed on the Oscars stage by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. However, Ram Charan and Jr NTR did not perform stage. Deepika Padukone introduced the performance, which received a standing ovation at the ceremony.
In his acceptance speech, Keeravaani thanked the academy and said that he grew up listening to The Carpenters before singing a few lines he wrote to the tune of "Top of the World." "There was only one wish on my mind / so was my family's / 'RRR' has to win pride of every Indian / and must put me at the top of the world," Keeravaani sang.
