Coolie continues to dominate WAR 2 on Day 3
Updated : Aug 16, 2025
Coolie starring Superstar Rajinikanth, King Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Aamir Khan released on 14th August and created a huge sensation at the box office. It collected a huge Rs.151 crores plus on Day 1 and dominated WAR 2 worldwide. Interestingly, it took charge over even in Telugu States.
On Day 2, being National Holiday, the movie maintained its collections without major dips but WAR 2 took a huge dip. On Day 3, further Coolie maintained its box office status as biggest film among both the releases. Even though WAR 2 has biggest stars like Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR movie could not really impress audiences.
The movie needed to deliver on huge expectations with two of the biggest stars coming together, that too, after a failure like Tiger 3, from YRF Spy Universe. The movie needed to infuse life into the Universe but it ended up being a dull film with stunts not enticing audiences to give it a try at the box office.
The Day 3 collections have further low for WAR 2 with National Chains and single screens also not performing up to the mark. Yash Raj Films is struggling to maintain the hype of the franchise after an all-time high like Pathaan. They need to revamp the story ideas, as everything looks familiar in this world.
Coolie while did not receive unanimous positive talk and reception, it is able to attract audiences to theatres as it is maintaining the momentum with star power of all the actors helping it to sustain over the weekend. While it is not going to deliver the eagerly awaited Rs.1000 crores for Tamil Cinema, it is on path to recover investments as brand value of director Lokesh Kanagaraj and composer Anirudh Ravichander is also helping it.
