CBFC Launches Online Film Certification

Central Board of Film Certification(CBFC) has recently it's online film certification to bring in more transparency in tackling censorship. In an interactive session Samvaad CBFC 2011 that held under the new CBFC chairmanship of Leela Samson organized by CBFC and CII in Mumbai.
Leela Samson said, to bring out new transparency in film certification CBFC has come up with a new idea that will facilitates producers of different film industries can apply for film certification online and it would soon launching its centers across different parts of country. She also said that CBFC is also making plans to introduce new fee structure for documentaries which have specified guideline apart from feature films.
An interactive session Samvaad CBFC 2011 was attended by leading filmmakers along with other civil society members and discussed much need changes in The Cinematograph Bill 2010 which is to be tabled soon in upcoming parliament monsoon session. They also opined that, once film is certified by CBFC it should not knuckle under outside forces in releasing in theaters.
Noted Indian filmmaker Yash Chopra gave his support to CBFC chairman Leela Samson and also gave his consent to new approach of CBFC online system to bring out needed societal changes.
Rajiv Takru, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting said the main of this Cinematography bill is to certify film accroding to content rather than cutting or deleting scenes. According to content the film is certified as it can be viewed by different age groups of society.
