Comedian Praveen turned into leading man with Bakasura Restaurant movie. Harsha Chemudu, Krishna Bhagwan and several others have been cast in this comedy. As many comedians have been turning into leading men, the movie turns out to be another big jump for yet another popular actor. The movie released today and let's discuss about the movie in detail.
Plot:
Paramesh (Praveen) dreams about opening his own restaurant. He is a software employee and starts small term savings to fulfil his dream. His friends also decide to join him but their attempts fail at regular intervals. To make quick money, they think ghost hunting videos and vlogs on YouTube would yield thier neccessity. During one video, they find a Tantra Sastra book and use it for money. But they awaken a spirit and hence, their lives turn into chaos. Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Praveen is good in few scenes. In dialogue based comic scenes, he performed at his best. But these sparks are limited. He couldn't really elevate all the scenes but as an actor, he tried his best. Harsha Chemudu did get few laughs but his scenes did not really bring the house down as makers anticipated. Many scenes seem good on paper but some failed in execution.
Few scenes have worked out better but many scenes lost their charm in the second hour. Each scene seem to have been dragged out to bits and it feels like we are watching a short film stretched out to the maximum. Also, the movie starts to feel repetitive in the second hour. The emotional scenes in the second hour feel forced. The plotline reminds us an in-form SV Krishna Reddy from early 90's and it needed similar flair in writing to sustain. Slight misses harm the flow.
Drag in second hour and repetitiveness of few punch lines work against the start. Realistically, the movie could have been worked out better with innovative writing and execution, in the second hour. Technically, movie suffered at few places but largely, the team worked their best to give a novel experience. As the idea had a lot of potential, the ending and second hour could have been planned even better. We can appreciate the makers for their attempt even with flaws.
Bottomline:
Potential storyline could have been executed much better.
Rating: 2.5/5
