e of a commando in the Indian army who is deputed the task of protecting the minister and aspiring CM played by Kalabhavan Mani). When the minister tries to rape a girl (Sneha), a classical dancer, he shoots at the minister and saves the girl’s life. So he is court-martialled for not providing adequate security. He returns to Chennai to lead simple life with his family. One day bumps into the girl he saved and falls in love with her. On the other hand the minister recovers from the shootout and vows to take revenge and deputes a local dada to kill our hero. The story of revenge culminates in a bloody battle. Sri Ram has ably transformed from a lover boy to action hero role in this film. Sneha looks radiant and expressive, though her role is minuscule.Kalabhavan Mani is usual loud self – same animal grunts and chief mimicry gimmicks. Yuvan Shanker Raja’s music is peppy and also mellifluous. Writer Raghavendra Reddy and lyrcist Vanamali have done commendable work well to this dubbed film, after their hugely successful film, Shivaputrudu. Vijay Milton's camera is another asset. Not that the film has devoid of clichés – in fact there are plenty like the usual Tamil film style happy family sentiments, fast one liners etc., yet it offers a racy action thriller
Analysis :
The primary problem with Rakshana is a complete lack of inspiration in sculpting the emotional backbone, considering how much of the film depends on it. The chemistry between the lead actors is begging for clemency, and the family moments substitute screen-time for eativity. These then reduce this to a bone and steel railroad yard rendition, with the emasculation in originality dogging it even there - Bose is nothing short of a superhero, dogding gazillions of bullets at uncontrite ranges, with the stunt directors deciding that commando training underwrites the impossible.
TeluguOne Perspective :
The film does keep the adrenaline rush for a bit, and some scenes and dialogues are good - especially the pre-interval face-off with Shivamani. Worth a watch if there's nothing better. ncidentally, this is a Tamil-dubbed flick.
