Pawan Kalyan has been not joining with directors who are able to capture his aura and present him perfectly on screen. But he joined hands with young director Sujeeth, who made films like Run Raja Run and Saaho. The young director convinced him to play a Gangster role and the hype for the movie is unprecedented. With movie recording pre-sales records and being noted as most hyped film of the actor in a decade, the buzz is historical. The movie released on 25th September and let's discuss in detail if it lives up to the hype.
Plot:
Satyanarayana (Prakash Raj), an Indian who went to Japan, meets Ojas Gambheera (Pawan Kalyan), a trained Samurai, trying to escape to Mumbai from Yakushi Gangsters. OG stands behind Satya making him a powerful Don, who owns private port. Satya Dada's friend Mirajkar (Tej Sapru) backstabs him and tries to own the lucrative port. OG defends Satya Dada and his grandson Arjun (Arjun Das) leaving Miraj in fear for life. But Miraj's sons OMI (Emraan Hashmi) and Jimmy (Sudev Nair) grow as gangsters.
Jimmy tries to execute Omi's plan to bring tonnes of RDX into Mumbai through Satya's port. Satya Dada's younger son (Venkat) is killed by Jimmy for RDX but he fails to capture the container. Satya's daugther-in-law Geetha (Sreya Reddy) stands for the people who live on port. While the entire family is in chaos, OG is nowhere to find. He is leading a peaceful life away from them with his wife Kanmani (Priyanka Arul Mohan) and daughter. Why? Will he return to save Satya Dada and Mumbai from Omi? How? Watch the movie to know the answers.
Analysis :
Pawan Kalyan after a long time has been presented in a stylish manner. In action scenes, showcasing his martial arts prowess and wielding Katana, he looked at his best in recent years. For many, director Sujeeth has been able to remind PSPK of Bhadri, Thammudu and Kushi. In some scenes, he missed lip sync and it should have been taken care of. But his agility in action sequences is a big highlight of the film.
At the same time, over indulgence in violence is also a big drawback. Sujeeth cleverly used Priyanka Arul Mohan's character without dragging the love and family track too much. Action sequences in the film are designed well, mainly, interval episode will give goosebumps to fans. Also, the character establishment scenes of Pawan Kalyan in Japan are well written.
Still, there are issues with writing throughout the film. Each frame has been crafted to showcase the dynamism of Pawan Kalyan and it seemed like KGF hangover has been huge in writing and many scenes have been designed to do fan service. While it works to an extent, after a point, the narrative feels jaded and slightly going over board with cliched troupes.
Music by S Thaman is good but his BGM gets repetitive at times. He did elevate few scenes but at times, it feels like scenes have been over dependent on his work than generating proper emotion. Sujeeth designed everything sleek and concentrated on presentation but could not really capture the emotion that elevates the action. Still, the action sequences, stylish, and active Pawan Kalyan, good bgm, will make it watchable for action movie lovers and fans of the actor.
TeluguOne Perspective :
Action lovers and fans will enjoy the film but family audiences might find it too gore.
