The film opens with the Khadgam title track that shows the greatness and history of India. There are a few Ariel moving shots of Charminar. Koti (Ravi Teja) is a hero wannabe. He has only one goal in life. That is to become a hero and to be called as 'Babu' by the industry people. Amjad (Prakash Raj) is an auto driver. Though extremely religious Muslim, Amjad is very patriotic about India. His younger brother Azhar is been missing since one year. The cops of Hyderabad arrested a dreadful ISI terrorist Masood. In a bid to get him released, the Pakistan authorities train Azhar (brother of Amjad) and send him across to Hyderabad to create riots and build communal tension. Azhar comes to Hyderabad and stays with his brother Amjad. Azhar's secret activities include devising and executing plans to release Masood.Radha Krishna (Srikanth) is a sincere and efficient police officer. But he is very serious in nature and has enormous hatred towards Pakistan for the reasons best known to him.The rest of the story includes how these three protagonists save the terrorist Masood from fleeing to Pakistan. And of course there is a 15 minutes flashback for Radha Krishna that involves his ladylove Swathy (Sonali Bendre) getting killed by the ISI guys.
Analysis :
Srikanth played a full time serious role as an honest and powerful cop. There are good amount of stunts canned on him. He did a balanced action, as his character is a pretty serious one with less number of dialogues.Prakash Raj has got more footage than any other character in this film. Though he sounded redundant at times, he did full justice to his role as a patriotic Muslim Indian. This role of actor-wannabe is a tailor made one for Ravi Teja. He did extremely well in the scenes.Raghu Babu (another son of actor Giri Babu) has been getting impact making roles now a days. In this film, he played the comic role of a typical PA (cum broker) in film industry. His getup and accent is extremely good. Sonali Bendre has a 15-minute role in this film and she is extremely sensuous in 'Nuvvu Nuvvu' song. Its sounds like she has dubbed her character in this film. She sounded decent. Sangeeta did a role of an innocent village belle who comes to Hyderabad in search of heroine chance in Telugu films. She realizes that it's not so easy and decides to sacrifice herself to a director in order to get heroine break (as per the suggestion of her mother). Kim Sharma played the role of cheerful girl. But there is no necessity for that role in this film.
TeluguOne Perspective :
First half of the film is decent. Second half is comparatively dull. When you watch a film and come out, you can say that you watched a film of a particular genre (like a love story, family cinema, youth film, comedy flick, mass masala etc). Though this film is made to represent the patriotic action film genre, Krishna Vamsi tried injecting all other five-genre elements. In that process, the patriotic aspect of the film did not get elevated. As a Telugu film, it's an average one. But for the standards of Krishna Vamsi it's a below average product.
