Apparao (Rajendra Prasad) runs a ladies-only driving school that was founded by his great grandfather. Anjali (Preeti Jingyani) is the daughter of a faction leader, Reddy (Jayaprakash Reddy). She falls in love with Apparao. At the same time, Apparao's marriage gets fixed with Maha Lakshmi (Malavika). Being a timid guy that he is, Apparao approaches Reddy and tells him that Anjali is in love with him. Reddy reveals that his daughter is suffering from blood cancer and pleads Apparao to pretend love to Anjali so that she could fulfill her wishes during the end days of her life. The rest of the story is all about how Apparao manages to deal with two girls.
Analysis :
It is a role that Rajendra Prasad has made it his own. He has a whale of a time. The only problem is that we have seen it all and felt bored then itself. The two heroines Preeti and Malavika have nothing much to do --- a dupe has been used for the latter in many places after she walked out over a fracas while shooting. The only redeeming feature of the film is Brahmanandam's comedy. His spoofy takes on factional feuds are hilarious. But such fun is far and few between in the film. The music is okay. But Anji Seenu does not have the wherewithal to cobble a workable script and his direction to looks pedestrian. He seems to think that comedy alone will suffice. But can a car run on a single gear?
TeluguOne Perspective :
'Apparao Driving School' is a routine triangular lovestory involving husband, wife and ladylove. The story is provided by Viswanadh who shot to fame by his dialogues for the film Gangotri. Rajendraprasad is the only plus point of the film. Screenplay by Anji Seenu is average. Comedy king Rajendra Prasad is good, as usual. Preeti Jingyani is adequate. Malavika does not have much role to play, but manages to do her part well. Jaya Prakash Reddy is OK. Annapurna is seen after a long gap. Brahmanandam is good as 'losugula Lakshma Reddy'. Devi Charan generates a bit of comedy with his spoof on Siva Putrudu. Jeeva is ok.
