| 'Greater' advantage for IT-Future |
Until a few days ago, Hyderabad had little commercial space and IT firms were unwilling to go out to the outskirts because of poor infrastructure. However, now that more area is merged to Hyderabad to make Greater Hyderabad, there is no shortage of land. The government will spend Rs 28,000 crore in the next two years on infrastructure and apart from that it is also attracting fresh investment.
"We would like to set up IT parks, some of which have already been approved, and many are in the pipeline,” says secretary, IT&C Department, Shailendra Kumar Joshi. Tata Consultancy Services will invest Rs 400 crore and Hyundai Motor India will invest about $40 million on a new R&D facility. |

"We have just started our R&D centre with about 100 employees here and this is basically a support function for our global R&D activities,” says vice president, Marketing and Sales, Hyundai Motor India, Arvind Saxena.
A big attraction for IT companies is that the US Consulate is being set up in Hyderabad. And when it is ready the IT companies will not have to deal with the Consulate in Chennai, to process their applications. |
