Should Jailer 2 have gotten hikes in AP?

Oct 10, 2026 3:10PM

Jailer 2 starring Superstar Rajinikanth and many big stars in cameos, is releasing on 15th October. The film's distribution rights have been acquired by Naga Vamsi in Telugu States. He applied for Rs.50 and Rs.75 single screen and multiplex, respectively, ticket hikes in Andhra Pradesh for the film.

The government granted hikes but that has become a huge discussion on social media. People have been criticising the decision to give hikes to films just because the cost of production is high. Some have started blaming SS Rajamouli for starting this trend with Baahubali and making it a common practice.

While ticket price hike is a necessity or not is debatable, current issue is with even a dubbed film getting hikes. Kantara Part-1, KGF 2, Toxic have been given hikes and the practice is generating fear among the social media users about how hikes have been normalised and fan wars are happening when a film is not awarded.

Vijay Deverakonda fans are posting continuously asking Mythri Movie Makers, producers of his Ranabaali, to ask for hikes. Mythri have avoided hikes for Ravi Teja's Irumudi and it helped them to earn triple profits. While Ranabaali is made on a huge budget, it doesn't have similar buzz like Irumudi or Jailer 2.

In fact, Vijay had to openly state that there has been paid negativity against him and his film, asking people to prefer Jailer 2 over his film, releasing on 16th October. Still, the movie is not managing to get the same hype as some of his previous films commanded.

This ongoing debate is helping film to be in the news but still the issue about producers, distributors using their connections to get some sort of hikes for the films is being discussed broadly. People are frustrated highly about TFI producers and distributors treating them as cash cows and some way or the other pushing looking to make hikes for any big film, a big norm. They are fearing how much will ticket costs be for Varanasi, Spirit and other upcoming biggies, if this trend pertains.
