Sushanth Reddy explains reasons behind his ENE exit

on Jan 22, 2026

The upcoming sequel to the cult classic Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, titled ENE Repeat, has stirred the hearts of fans following the news of Sai Sushanth Reddy’s exit. Sushanth, who brought the character of Karthik to life, shared a message explaining that his departure is due to deeply personal reasons that prevent him from committing to the project at this time.

In his communication, Sushanth expressed his gratitude to the audience and the "Kanyaraasi" gang, acknowledging the immense love for Karthik. While he stepped back from the sequel, he reinforced the idea that the bond shared by the characters transcends any single actor. Reports suggest Sushanth has shifted his focus away from active acting to pursue other ventures and personal milestones, making his availability for the long-term production of a sequel difficult.

Director Tharun Bhascker took to social media to address the void, admitting that the news of Sushanth’s unavailability "broke" him. He said, "I took time to step back and re-examine the script, asking if it would ever feel the same. But I realized that the spirit of ENE is rooted in the friendships I lived—it's about the gang, the vibe, and the 'warm hug' of a story."

To maintain narrative continuity, Tharun has recast the role of Karthik with Srinath Maganti. He assured fans that ENE Repeat is not a "commercial cash-grab" but an organic story that needed to be told. The film remains a tribute to the original spirit of the four friends, even as it navigates this unexpected change.
