Ravi Teja has been crowned as Mass Maharaja of Telugu Cinema but his recent films did not live up to the hype and buzz surrounding them. But Irumudi has been different as movie got huge positive buzz from the beginning. Joining hands with a director like Shiva Nirvana and divine connection seems to have changed things for Ravi Teja. Let's discuss about the film in detail.
Plot:
Trinath (Ravi Teja) is an alcoholic but he loves his wife (Priya Bhavani Shankar) and daughter Manikanta (Baby Nakshatra) to the core. Every year he observes Ayyappa Deeksha and stays away from every vice for 41 days and he is popular as a singer. On the other hand, Sileru High school becomes a problematic aspect for the girls commuting from the Trinath's village.
They have to go by bus to near by Donkapadu forest and then travel 5 KM by walk or bicycle. Guru Swamy (Sai Kumar)'s daughter Gayathri complains about this and he asks MLA (Ramesh Indra) to sanction at least bus. Meanwhile, high school girls are terrified by teacher (Swasika Vijay) and her special classes. Why? How Trinath and his daughter are connected to all this? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Ravi Teja has delivered his career best performance in the film. It is hard to find Ravi Teja as he completely immersed himself into the role of Trinath. We see only Trinath in his body language and his dialogue delivery too. We never saw Ravi Teja this restrained and in character and that is the biggest strength of the film.
Baby Nakshatra is cute and her performance is life of the film. Priya Bhavani Shankar is good, Ramesh Indra, Sai Kumar and everyone did their best. GV Prakash Kumar's music and BGM stand-out. They carry the film flawlessly and create the necessary atmosphere for the thriller.
Shiva Nirvana did his best in writing dialogues for the film. Each scene carries forward the emotion and delivers a strong humanitarian angle that the director posses. But screenplay wise after the big twist movie gets into predictable zone but climax emotion elevates the feel. The thought process on how two fathers' handle education and upbringing of girl child is beautifully presented by the director.
Technically, movie is good as cinematography is handled very well. Production design and values by Mythri Movie Makers are perfect too. But editing could have been better in the second hour. Overall, the movie is worth a watch for the social message it intertwines into a thriller aspect. Ayyappa songs help the movie big time.
Positives:
Ravi Teja's Performance
Baby Nakshatra scenes
Strong emotional core
Gayathri - Manikanta scenes
GV Prakash Kumar music
Socially Relevant Concept
Negatives:
Drag in second hour
Slight predictability post big twist
Sluggish narrative at places.
Bottomline:
A good and honest film that talks about women safety
Rating: 3/5
