Madhavan has been selecting some interesting films on OTT with diverse roles and scripts. His recent movie, Hisaab Barabar released on ZEE5 on this Friday. Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kriti Kulhari and Rashami Desai starred along Madhavan in this drama. The movie is least publicized among the many OTT releases. But with such a big ensemble cast, it is hard to not have a look at it. Let's discuss about the film in detail.
Plot:
Radhe Mohan Sharma (Madhavan), a honest Ticket Collector, TTE, finds a discrepancy in his available balance at a bank. He tries to resolve the issue and accidentally, uncovers a huge financial scam amounting to Rs.2000 crores by an influential banker, Micky Mehta (Neil Nitin Mukhesh). But can he expose the details and bring out the scammers to justice? Watch the movie to know about it.
Analysis:
The movie has an interesting premise of a common man uncovering a huge scam at a reputed bank. But the script doesn't really explore the depth of the characters. It tries to talk in detail about the scam but fails to really engage us in the proceedings. While the scale of the film is huge the set up and pay off don't really excite us after a point. The leading men characters have good elements but falls short of exploring them to the fullest.
Also, the plot doesn't manage to engage us after a good start. The movie does maintain a good pace in the starting portions but then goes on a flat trajectory without any highs. The reveals and twists also don't really surprise us after a point has it completely drives into a beaten path. It becomes so predictable that you wish the movie is shorter even though it is not too long. The drama also doesn't really invest us as the characters are drawn like caricatures.
Madhavan is sincere for his portion and he holds fort for most of the runtime. But as the film drags in the second hour, even he couldn't really do anything. Neil Nitin Mukhesh and Kriti Kulhari characters don't have anything to really offer other than looking lost for most of the time. Neil could have done a better job with a well designed character. Kriti also fails to get into the depth of the things.
Production values and humor don't really do justice to the story. With humor being injected into the screenplay in serious situations and light-hearted scenes being dragged out to death, the movie just suffocates us. Even though it is short, it feels like too lengthy. Overall, the movie falls short of the potential it showcases even in its first 20 minutes.
In Conclusion:
Movie struggles with pacing issue and drags to death.
Rating: 1.5/5
