Yash’s highly anticipated Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has received permission for enhanced ticket rates in Telangana ahead of its worldwide release on August 26. The Telangana Government issued the permission on August 25, allowing the hike across all theatres in the state.
As per the government memo, single-screen theatres can charge an additional Rs.50 per ticket, while multiplexes and special theatres can charge an additional Rs.100, with GST included in the enhanced rates. The permission is applicable from August 26 to September 4, covering 10 days and five regular shows per day.
The approval comes as Toxic enters its final stage of pre-release promotions, with strong advance-booking momentum reported ahead of its release. The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria, is among the biggest releases this week. Recent reports have also highlighted strong demand for the film across markets.
The government has attached a few conditions to the permission. KVN–Monster Mind Creations LLP has been directed to contribute Rs.1 crore to the Telugu Film Industry Employees Welfare Committee account operated by the FDC. Theatres have also been instructed to screen advertisements highlighting the adverse effects of narcotics, drugs and cybercrime.
Well, Industry on-lookers are commenting that Dil Raju is implementing different standards. His brother distributor Shirish Reddy strongly opposed hikes in Telangana during Peddi release. But Dil Raju is distributing the film in Telugu States and he is also FDC chairman in Telangana, hence he got the hikes for a Kannada dubbed Telugu film, Toxic. How will the other producers react now? It will be interesting to see.
