Hero Sandeep Kishan scored back to back flops with Beeruva and Joru and is on vengeance mode now. He is coming up with “Tiger” which is directed by AR Murugadoss’ protégé VI Anand.
The CONTENT
Tiger (Sandeep) and Vishnu (Rahul) are orphans, among whom Tiger is totally outspoken and loud while Vishnu is calm and cool. Years later, Vishnu falls in love with Ganga (Seerat Kapoor) and that creates differences between Tiger and Vishnu. Upon Ganga’s insistence, Vishnu gets separated from Tiger and vows not to see his face again. However when Vishnu to get married to Ganga, things go haywire. What happens then? Will Tiger and Vishnu meet again? What’s that situation that made things go wrong for Vishnu? That’s the movie is all about.
The EFFORT :
On-Screen:
Sandeep Kishan tried his hand at out and out mass-diction yet again. It looked like he wanted to imitate Jagapathi Babu’s role in Anthapuram, but he missed it by miles. Though his body languge is wonderful, his dialogue delivery got paled out in emotional scenes. Also he can’t utter loud dialogues with ease. Otherwise, we have to appreciate him for coming up with a role that has no heroine at all.
Rahul Ravindran’s role of Vishnu sounds like a Siddharth’s role. His voice and histrionics too have shades of Siddharth all the time. Though this youngster has put up nice efforts, somehow the character graph is incomplete. Heroine Seerat Kapoor looks cool but not that gorgeous to sweep away everyone by feet. She is okay in her part.
Other cast have not much important roles, but they have done their job well. All the comedy gang has barely one scene each including Saptagiri and Praveen. Newcomer villains have nothing much to boast about.
Off-Screen:
Director VI Anand has chosen a tried and test storyline but the way he narrated first half of the movie is quite impressive. Applying an intercut screenplay, back and forthe method, for a simple subject has highlighted the storyline. But his casting should be much better.
Cinematographer Chota K Naidu is the super hero of the film as he has come up with a brilliant photography for every scene. His cinematography has showcased both the shores of Ganga and locales of Rajahmundry most brilliantly. Another hero for the film is SS Thaman, who has composed only two songs for the film but stunned in theatres with his background score.

BREAKDOWN:
Director VI Anand wanted to prove that even a simple story could be narrated with huge gripping if the screenplay excels. That’s where he focused on, while delivering the story of two friends, of which one is so serious about their friendship. But as long as people don’t guess that this is re-modified story of Arya 2, they will feel the kick. But once all logics are opened, then director has lost that ability to narrate grippingly.
First half of “Tiger” is pretty good, but we have to say that no other big star would have taken Tiger’s role. Because, the first one hour is a pure show of Rahul Ravindran and Seerat Kapoor. Rahul is convincing with his looks and he could grab Siddharth’s place easily, while Seerat needs to improvise a lot in case if she wants to excel as an actress rather a starlet. As the first one hour is narrated with nice flash cuts, every small and big scene got right elevation. Director wanted to show being kind and good is important in life and he succeeded. At the same time, fun elements and couple of comedy scenes worked big time.
When the interval strikes, there is nice suspense element holding the excitement. Post the interval, movie gets to being routine, but director has stuck to reality to not make this film have another Mirchi kind of climax. But a burning subject like honour killings needs more sensitive approach than this commercial kind of fun narrative. Second half lost that sensibilities and routine climax gives prick under the seat feeling.
“Tiger” will work as long as there is no other flick at box office. Because the film’s first half is appealing to masses and youths, while the seriousness in second half doesn’t anyway kill the cinematic experience on a whole. No doubt, Sandeep will emerge as mass hero but he needs to focus on dialogue delivery and modulation.
The FINISHING Line: A good one-time watch
