Suspense continues on Jana Nayagan Censor Issue

on Jan 20, 2026

Thalapathy Vijay starrer Jana Nayagan, the remake of NBK's Bhagavanth Kesari, has been facing censorship delays from past one month. The movie had been planned to release on 9th January but censor officials did not grant the certification and hence, the makers have moved to High Court.

The case has come in front of divisional bench today and the justice has asked the two parties to present their arguments. Jana Nayagan's lawyer tried to explain how the producers had been only informed about revising committee but not given a clear direction on why they did not issue certificate.

On the other hand, CBFC side's lawyer stated that the revising committee recommended cuts have not been submitted and they cannot issue the ceritifcate without confirmation about the corrections. Jana Nayagan team have stated that the producer might have to bear huge losses with OTT deal under scrutiny.

Further they have argued that the CBFC board did not give them an official order or direction and just informed about the status. So, they have asked the court to direct the CBFC to issue the certification and allow them to release the film as soon as possible. Court has reserved their judgement and the issue will continue.

H. Vinoth has directed the film while Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde have played leading lady roles. The heavy political tonality in the second hour and dialogues, scenes are said to be major objections for CBFC. Bobby Deol and Prakash Raj have played important role and more details to be known. Revered as last film of Vijay, KVN Productions have produced it.
